Post Examination Programs- Primary 6 Doodling on Coffee Mugs Workshop

Creative Expression Unleashed: Primary 6 Coffee Mug Doodling Workshop

At Fun With Artz, we're passionate about fostering creativity. Our recent doodling workshop for Primary 6 students provided a fresh and fun way to express themselves—this time on coffee mugs! The session turned ordinary mugs into personalised art pieces, sparking imagination and creativity in every participant.

Why Doodle on Coffee Mugs?

Personalising everyday objects, like coffee mugs, adds a special touch to items that people use daily. For our Primary 6 students, it was an exciting challenge to turn a blank mug into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. The workshop allowed them to experiment with doodling techniques, transforming simple sketches and patterns into functional art that they can take home.

The Workshop in Action

During the two-hour session, students had the chance to explore their artistic styles through doodling. With permanent markers and specialised pens in hand, they learned how to create imaginative designs on their mugs, plan from simple line drawings to colourful patterns and creative characters. The atmosphere was filled with creativity, as each student put their unique spin on their designs—whether it was playful characters, geometric shapes, or abstract artwork.

We emphasized the importance of planning, drawing and enjoying the process rather than aiming for perfection. It’s all about free-flowing creativity and having fun, which made the workshop engaging for all skill levels. By the end, every student had their own unique mug to take home—a tangible piece of their creativity.

Benefits of Creative Workshops for Kids

Art-based activities like doodling offer more than just fun. For children, they provide a way to practice fine motor skills, enhance focus, and nurture creativity. Encouraging them to engage in artistic expression also helps boost their confidence, especially when they see the final results of their efforts. Our workshop was designed not only to teach new skills but also to promote self-expression in a stress-free, supportive environment.

Why Choose Fun With Artz?

At Fun With Artz, we believe that art is for everyone. Our workshops are thoughtfully designed to make creativity accessible to all ages and skill levels. Whether it's doodling, painting, or clay crafting, we strive to create an environment where students can explore their artistic talents while having a great time. Our hands-on approach ensures that each participant leaves with newfound skills and a memorable experience.

What’s Next at Fun With Artz?

This mug doodling workshop was a resounding success, and we’re already looking forward to our next creative adventure.

Clay Kits to begin

Some essential materials to begin with. Modena Clay transparent for miniature food crafting, Multi-purpose glue, stainless steel duo side clay cutter use for air dry or oven baked polymer clay, even ceramic work and some miniature ceramic serving ware to begin with for mini food crafting.
If you want to look for some inspirations, you can watch my free demos. I am sure you can find many other free sharing clay videos all over the internet too.

Polymer Clay

During this Circuit breaker period makes you look for a new skill, probably you want to get your hands on some craft that is easy to pick up without any prior experience. You can still purchase Clay online. There is different types of polymer clay that can be used for crafting. If you just want to pick up a new hobby that requires not much of investment . Consider air dry clay and after getting used to the materials and you wish to experiment on different types of Clay, its always not too late to venture more.

Modena is air dry clay, soft & flexible. Dries with translucent & waterproof. Virtually unbreakable. It can be used to create colored clay by mixing acrylic and oil paints. All paints and varnish are also accepted. Basically the clay requires no varnishing unless you need your work to look glossy or oily.

It is ideal for making flowers, lamp shade with the translucent light, macaroon, and Japanese sweets called "Wagashi". It is non-toxic. You can use a bond or water to join the cured modena pieces.
Do not mix it with stone clays, oil clays, or wood formo.

【Caution】
Modena series clay contains high percentage of resin and it makes easier to be affected by the temperature. Therefore, Modena Series clays cannot be stocked in the condition of under 0 degree.
Proper storage temperature is 5-25 degree.

Modena 250grams Translucent Clay

There are definitely a lot of video tutorials out there on how to use clay to sculpt what you like.
Most of my works are miniature food and Clay animals. I have made some clay dolls too. I prefer books more as it explains details and its just easier to refer and improvise from. I draw my inspirations every source I can find through google and also lots of pdf tutorials I pin on my pinterest board I can share.
I started collecting  Japanese Craft Book written by Japanese Crafters and Teachers, some of my favourite artists are Mayu Sakiguchi Nunu's House (handmade miniature1/12) produced by Tomo Tanaka ミニチュア. Now some of the Japanese Craft books have been translated to Chinese prints and its easier for me to read the names of the colors and materials. Their books have clear photographs basically you do not need to be able to read Japanese to understand their techniques.

DIY Bubble Tea Making During Covid19-Circuit B period

Homemade Bubble Tea

By the time she reached the bubble tea shops after work everything already closed.

On the day when Bubble Tea needed to be closed many people ran down to get their last grab, and my sister was one of them. She was not so lucky enough to get any though., that made my girl wanted to make a cup for her. She googled for some recipes and ran down to get Tapioca starch and the necessary ingredients.

This is what we use.

Bubble tea
INGREDIENTS for pearls
180ml water
90g black sugar
295g tapioca starch,

INGREDIENTS for Milk Tea
375ml of water
5 tea bags (15g)
3 Tbs black sugar syrup
200g tapioca pearls in black sugar syrup
450ml low-fat milk
12 cubes of ice

Cooking pot
Sieve
Bowl
Cup & Straw

Few days later ST made a full video on How to the Make the Bubble Tea as well and viola of course all Tapioca Starch is sold out everywhere. Thankfully, we grab ours fast, and also we just need to make that once.

Homemade Organic non fattening Bubble Milk Tea. Although its non fattening, I control the amount of caffeine intake per day. Max is One coffee in the morning One Tea in the afternoon before 4pm.

We added Organic Raw Coco Powder, thus we skipped the artificial colorings. We wanted a non fattening Bubble Milk Tea for our family. During this circuit breaker period, we had full access to our kitchen, we really need to be very careful with what we add into our homemade food.

Boiling the hand rolled tapioca pearls
Tapioca Pearls are fully Cooked now we soaked in cooled filtered water so that they wont stick together in lumps.

Last step is to boil hot water add 3 tea bags into the boiled water and wait for the tea to cool a little to about 75 degrees celsius and add our non fattening organic milk. There is quite a variety to choose from Cold Storage.

Miniature food workshop- Bakuteh

A Chinese soup commonly found on the streets of Singapore. Bak Kut Teh肉骨茶 is a dish which all Singaporeans loves. This can be commonly found at Kopitiam and coffee shop. Literally translated as “meat bone tea”, Bah Kut Teh consists of meaty pork ribs simmered in a complex broth of herbs and spices. ... In Singapore, there are two styles of Bak kut teh served. While Teochew version features clear soup with peppery taste, Klang version has thick, cloudy soup with herbal taste. In our lion city, clear soup is more popular than the  herbal soup. This set of work is made using oven-baked clay, as the texture of the pork rib took me 1 least an hour to draw out and piecing them together. Even the bones need to pre baked first before I sculpt on the meat.
